We first fell in love with Bistro Du Vin at the very first restaurant week where we had the opportunity to try out the food, truth be told Bistro Du Vin doesnt need the additional publicity provided by the event – when the food is good people will come
E especially loves this place for its generous portions and that braised beef cheek, he insisted we come here for his birthday even though I am more of the sort of person who prefers to try out new restaurant.
So here we were back for who knows how many times
The french onion soup was a delightful large portion, crack the cheese with your spoon and dive into the gooey rich sweet soup. Try to share this because one may be full from just drinking the soup on its own
Next starter was the pan-seared foie gras – sadly the size of the liver has shrunk over the years we have been here but still pretty value for money. (Unless it continues to shrink)
And the highlight of the evening (the picture does no justice), melt in your mouth fork tender beef cheek braised in red wine with soft sweet carrots, onions, pork belly and served with the most creamy mashed potato. Really rich and good. The portion is huge and i recommend sharing.
