Somehow when famous brands come to Singapore, it almost always doesnt taste as good. Is it a lack of quality oversight? Or is it just because nothing feels as good as travelling to a country and hunting down what’s famous there, rather than just having it in our own backyard.
Mak’s noodles is something that I have to eat whenever I go to Hong Kong and my go-to order is always the shrimp roe noodles and the beef brisket. Just the perfect combi.
So of course I had to order that at the Singapore’s brunch. And I must say, it was a very close rendition.
But somehow still quite lacking, the roe wasnt nearly as fragrant, the brisket wasnt nearly as tender. Still, if I am craving some good Hong Kong noodle, this isnt such a bad place.
Oh yes this was pretty pricey but in all fairness, so is the Mak’s in Hong kong.
