Bangkok Travel Diary Dec 2015- Fillets

Whenever I come back to Bangkok, I make it a point to try a new place because I know the city has so much culinary delights to offer even if it means having to miss out on some of my favorite places (urgh not enough stomach space!)

This time round, we decided on a Japanese meal at Fillets @ the Portico (nearest BTS is chit lom and then its a short 5 mins walk in).

We made reservations but honestly it was pretty empty that one could walk right in and get a decent table.

We were a tad over ambitious and ordered a 750ml bottle of Sake but heck we were on vacation right. We managed to finish the entire bottle though, must be those cute sake glasses.

The wagyu don was gorgeous. Perfectly seared and extremely marbled beef, the taste of the beef was pretty sublime  making this one of the best beef dons I have had in a while. The portion was quite small though.

Fillets features a pretty broad ranging menu including some fusion/Japanese styled pasta. This was a cold noodle dish featuring uni, uni butter, bacon and an onsen egg. Such a pretty plating but I thought the uni flavors were pretty muted and the dish was a tad too oily/watery overall.

The pretty plating continues with the soft shell crab roll.

And a spicy salmon roll. Both rolls were nicely done.

I heard that the omakase here is a must-try, will be back for that!
